An open air room, complete with mosquito nets. Pure luxury
A bit of luxury creeps in to every overland journey. Sometimes it’s as simple as a hot shower on a cold day or a bowl of amazing street food. And sometimes it’s something that absolutely blows your socks off.
We’re in Peru at the moment—in the Amazon Basin—at an eco-lodge that is a truly special stop on our current jaunt.
I’ll be writing quite a few entries about our stay and excursions during our three days at Posada Amazonas, but for now I thought you should see our room. This is an overwhelming sight after a couple of months of living mostly in a tent.
Thanks Oasis for the surprise! I’m still speechless—to the extent that I’m ever speechless.

Natalie, I think you and Poor John might have been in a fist fight over the hammock. Actually, he’s pretty easy-going, so you’d have won if you were quick.

Ten thumbs up for this bit of luxury, after camping out and sleeping in a tent on a mat/somewhat hard floor. Interesting that even if you had been to South America in the past, you can come up with new discoveries/finds like this one. And I hope the food is very good as well at this eco-lodge.

Yes Sy, the luxury was fantastic, although it was hotter than the dickens—no fans and no electricity after 9pm, so it was early to bed for everyone. The food was excellent and I’ve encouraged them to create a little cookbooks of the recipes.

Peggy – this is Betty from NC. If you go to the web site for Posada Amazona they have a menu for the week. Lunch and Dinner and most of the recipes are on it. I’ve been printing out a couple but still need that great salsa. Great meeting you and John there and will follow your travels. FUN!!!
