Poor John not fully embracing the spirit of Paris
Outfits galore in Paris
We’ve been in Paris for a few days and Poor John has quickly adopted the habit of devouring a couple of baguettes (slathered with cheese, pâté or other spreads) every day. He’s even volunteered to be first out the door in the morning to go on the day’s initial bread-buying expedition.
But I’m making no headway at all getting him out of his camping clothes and into something more fashionable. Just yesterday, we passed a shop specialising in elaborate men’s garments. The display windows were filled with temptations, but I couldn’t even get him to go in.
So what do you think?

I reckon I’m fashion challenged, too. I think PJ and I are more comfortable wearing cargo shorts and a tshirt.

The lampshades with netting on would be good for keeping the mozzies off but I think I prefer the old pith helmet style. I have a lightweight pith helmet with a solar powered fan built in which blows air through a sponge which you can wet which makes it an air conditioned pith helmet. Now with your travels that would be a better hat for yourself and John. My son sent it to me when I was in PNG. He bought it from L.V.Martins a NZ company but it was made in China. The rest of the outfits are ridiculous, with so many buttons by the time Poor John got to bed you would be up and on your next adventure. Hope Paris is a more relaxing holiday for you, no looking out for tigers behind every bush. Loving your posts. Running out of memories to write about on mine.

And yes, the outfits are ridiculous, which is why I had to share them even if Poor John refused to try on one.

You need to change strategies – burn his clothes, buy one of the outfits (probably the animal print to start with) and tell him that it’s what all the rugged manly men are wearing in the bush.
Prior to this, start supplementing the baguettes with lots of French wine. If he drinks as much wine as he’s eating baguettes I think it might work . . .

Do they actually ever sell any of that stuff? And if they do, who in God’s creation buys it? The only place to wear it would seem to be in your own home at night with the lights off.

Hmm…there are a lot of Poor John supporters. I’m thinking he needs to embrace the culture a little more, if only so you can get some funny shots for the blog to give us a good laugh! I’m sure you’ve made sacrifices for him. in the past… 😉

It does look a tad unconventional for Poor John. However, I’m sure if you looked really, really hard, you might find a shop Poor John likes that would help make him looked a little spruced up.
