How many people can you get in/on a car
Just a quick post before we hit the road again. I don’t have many shots like this because we’re travelling at a speed that means my pics are out of focus.
Here are a couple to show you how many people (and their stuff) can fit in/on a single car. No captions needed.
amazing

Love it, Peggy. Our favorite joke in Egypt was “How many Egyptians can you fit in a car? All of them…!”

That’s a good one, Kerry. Thanks.

I certainly had similar experiences in West Africa, Peggy. When you know it is really full is when you get someone’s kid, or rooster, in your lap. 🙂

I’ve had kids in my lap, but never a rooster. 🙂

Wow…it looks madness to us, but for them I guess is just normal life?

Yep, it is fairly normal.

Wow.
I found in India that prefocusing can help for shots out of a bus. You need to be ready because opportunities come and go quickly. You need an appropriate shutter speed depending on the lens and it helps to stop down a bit which makes focusing less critical.

Thanks for the tips, Murray. My biggest problem is having people hanging out the windows and getting in my way. 🙂

Wow! I’m surprised, and not surprised. It reminds me of seeing 5 or 6 people on a motor bike in India. Whatever you have to do to make life work.

I was so busy looking at all the people in the boot of the first car that I didn’t notice the pile of stuff on the roof!

That’s because it’s a fairly small pile. Some are huge.

Now, that is something else! There is a little bit of that in areas with scarce transport but it doesn’t get to that cramming level with luggage and all.
This is a part of the world that truly stretches the resilience of a machine to the last and final ‘thread’.

Yes indeed, the vehicles suffer along with the passengers.

I bet they could fit a goat on the roof.

That reminded me of the 1960s competitions to see how many people could fit into the original Mini.
They are still doing it now!
Best wishes, Pete.

I’ve ridden in cars filled to the brim like that in Asia!

I’d like to have the automotive suspension repair franchise in Africa. Two questions. In the top photo, does everyone in Africa travel with their personal Tympani and none of this is unusual to anyone in South Texas.

Some people travel with their goat instead of their tympani. Not sure about South Texas. 🙂

Oy yoy yoy – unsafe at any speed. Don’t we bask in such luxury as a seat and a seatbelt for everyone?

It interests me that many people don’t wear their seatbelt on the overland truck, while they do when they are at home. We wear ours all the time.
