Message from the webmaven

Just a quick update from the webmaven. I should also start by apologising for the slackness of this message as neither of us could remember the password to the blog.

Peggy has been travelling through Iran and recent reports have her alive and well in Turkmenistan – famous for the obscure laws of its “President for life” (he’s dead now), including one banning beards! But that’s pogonophobia for you! Thankfully Poor John shaved his beard off in the late 80’s, an act for which I never forgave him.

She has asked me to post to let you know she hopes to be online soon to regale you with her many tales.

In the meantime you can read up on Turkmenistan’s eccentric previous dictator on his wikipedia page: Saparmurat Niyazov

We’ve hit Uzbekistan and the land of social media. What a relief. Having a great time and have plenty to write about.

Thank you for that.I’ve been wondering where Peggy and John are. Now I can look forward to hearing from them.

    Hello Webmaven,

Glad to read a post that Peggy and Poor John are alright! Traveling to third world countries, can be difficult, so happy to read their travel plans are moving forward and they are safe.

    Sy S.

      Hi Sy
We’re doing very well. Just hot and feeling a little disconnected from the world. Better now.

Been wondering where her blogs have been getting to, but I know a lot of the social media websites are blocked where she is travelling, that includes blog websites
But Peggy is a big girl now and she can look after her self, she has done a lot of trips like this before
    But thanks for the update

Oh boy, everything has been blocked for several weeks—even PayPal. But Uzbekistan is open now and it wasn’t when we were here in 2011. Nice change.

You need a program like hotspot shield, lets you access anything, I use it when I am looking at my bank accounts and dont want to share my info with others, it also lets me get onto my blog, I used it in China, Iran, no one else would install it, they thought it was somethig illegal 😦 its not, its a free program, not sure if it works on a MAC though

You’re right Derrick, but everything I’ve investigated so far doesn’t have a version for the Mac. 😦
